In 2016 Nepali mountain guides made some new routes in Manang. In July 2017 this year I went along to learn to bolt with my friend Vinayak who is a mountain guide. I bolted my first easy route + called it Syao Chor (apple thief) because of the delicious apple farm up ahead that is sealed with fences + 'no trespassing' signs. Last year's activities were followed up some more + new routes were bolted, including a 6 pitch multi-pitch that still needs a proper first ascent! There is no tradition of trad climbing here but that is our next aim, to practice more of this. As you can see there are enough crack climbing routes that don't need to be bolted. We want to explore more + do more.
